Pulsar Emission Spectrum
Here we calculate pulsar emission, apparently from first principles, i.e., without any arbitrary assumptions. Our method applies to weak pulsars. A pulsar is called weak if pair production near the light cylinder is negligible compared to Goldreich-Julian density [1] per rotation. The weak pulsar approximation must be accurate for some, and perhaps meaningful for most, Fermi [2] pulsars. We tre...
متن کاملPulsar spectra of radio emission
We have collected pulsar flux density observations and compiled spectra of 281 objects. The database of Lorimer et al. (1995) has been extended to frequencies higher than 1.4 GHz and lower than 300 MHz. Our results show that above 100 MHz the spectra of the majority of pulsars can be described by a simple power law with average value of spectral index < α >= −1.8 ± 0.2. A rigorous analysis of s...
متن کاملDepolarization of Pulsar Radio Emission.
We show that intensity-dependent depolarization of single pulses may be due to the nonlinear decay of the "upper" ordinary (O) mode into an unpolarized extraordinary mode and a backward-propagating wave. The decay occurs in the innermost parts of the pulsar magnetosphere for obliquely propagating O waves.
متن کاملPulsar shade – discovery of inward emission in pulsar magnetosphere
We present the theory of eclipsing a rotating, spatially extended source of directional emission by a central absorber, and apply it to the pulsar magnetosphere. The theory assumes the radially extended inward radio emission along the local direction of magnetic field, and the pulsar as the absorber. Geometry of magnetic field lines of the rotating dipole is favourable for the double eclipse ev...

Continental flood basalts and mid-ocean ridge (MOR) tholeiitic basalts have distinctly different 14 3 Ndf1 44 Nd which may permit a priori distinctwn between '"continental" and "oceanic" igneous rocks. Initial 14 3 NdJI 4 4 Nd of continental igneous rocks through time fall on a Sm/Nd evolution curve with chondritic REE abundance ratio. These observations indicate that many continental igneous r...
